Manager: Pharmacy Distribution HUB

Job Summary: Manages the pharmacy HUB for Virtua to assure that purchasing of medications aligns with proper medication use so that each patient receives the right medication at the right time. Directs and coordinates procurement, receiving, warehousing, just in time distribution, inventory turn, waste reduction, and pricing optimization.  Plans and prepares for drug shortages. Integrates all aspects of medication procurement with the prescribing and utilization teams through the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Position Responsibilities: Establish and sustains a system level inventory control model utilizing our pharmacy operating process, analytical business software, vendor contracted software, to provide for inventory management best practices.   Manages the ordering, receiving, and storage of all drugs and supplies. Establishes, maintains and updates re-order point parameters to maximize inventory turns and med cabinet optimization. Manages the hiring and work performance of the Pharmacy Buyer and the HUB Technicians with regard to purchasing, inventory, and all other responsibilities. Works with each division Director of Pharmacy to oversee functionality, maintenance and system upgrades for robotic systems, medication dispensing cabinets, automated compounding/filling equipment, and automated narcotic control software.Manages drug cost opportunities related to contractual opportunities; Monitors the marketplace regarding the availability of new pharmaceutical products; updates any purchase pricing to reflect current cost environment; analyses any over spending to find root cause analysis. Oversees and directs the placement of orders with manufacturers and wholesalers and ensuring that all purchase orders are completed and processed in a timely fashion.Manages all deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies, and oversees the process of returns and credits for damaged shipments received from vendors.  Notifies Pharmacy leadership or his/her designee regarding drug shortages and other issues that can affect drug utilization within the institution. Investigates alternative products for items that are either temporarily unavailable or in short supply and provides system users and leadership with status and availability. Provides consultation, guidance and technical assistance to Pharmacy Leadership regarding compounding related quality assurance issues in pharmacy. Establishes returns process for expired and/or damaged product. Manages the return of outdated medications for credit. Monitors recall information on medications and supplies that are maintained by the Pharmacy and coordinating removal and appropriate processing of recalled items. Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of pharmaceutical contract files. Physical inventory management will include: Managing the Pharmacy inventory, including the planning and organization of resources to meet work goals; Performing cycle counts on select high cost medications; Preparing, scheduling and managing physical inventories. Position Qualifications Required: Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of hospital pharmacy work experiencerequired (3 years' experience in pharmacy inventory management).  Supervisory experience in a clinical environment is preferred. 340B experiencepreferred Microsoft Excel competency Required Education: Bachelors degreerequired Training / Certification / Licensure: Knowledge of hospital formulary terms, inventory control, budgeting and purchasing analysis, computers, pharmacy computer applications and software testing and implementation is required. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
